Sorry to say that I have returned from my long awaited 3 week road trip... Sorry, cuz I did not put it in writing that I was leaving...OUCH!

I am now ready to accept the punishment due a long standing, normally trustworthy, loyal, active interested member/player. Did I mention I like not only the game, but you guys also?

Anyhow, just perusing the site on my day back, and realizing my error...Don't do what I did, but be sure to sign out.

So now I am back with a vengeance. Hope I still have some tanks left to play. I have gone through the DT's every day each week that passed.

Had I brought with me a way to play, you all would now have to serve as my wife, I think.

Vacation was great, drove by a few of your neighborhoods, I am sure. See U Soon!

Happy Hunting !!

AFK …Confessions of a noob… and other random thoughts…

First… Please note this is my AFK/WoTs notice for the next 30 days or more….

Confessions:

Hi! My name is metalman_007 and I’m an addict…

I know this because after only a few days of not playing I’m going through withdraws … serious withdraws… the fact that WoTs is offering 3 days premium and 15 bonus reserves till the end of the month is sending me into huge turmoil… just like an addict….

20,000 games, I reached this mark a week ago on Monday morning playing the T7 British SPG. Deciding prior to reaching this milestone I should take a break from WoTs for reflection or so I thought that was the reason...

When out loud announcing obtaining this milestone, the first thing my wife asked was “how many hours wasted is that?” hmmm at 15 minutes per game that works out to 5000 hours, divided by total number of days since I first downloaded this game that would make it 7.04 hours wasted per day. I told her since I usually die in the first few minutes of the battle this stat is probably not accurate. Probably more like 2 hours a day, no really honey…

Currently the number of my tier 1 battles still account for more than 10% of my total battles fought, and my average battle tier to date is only 5.02 with an overall WN8 of 268. Not very impressive especially after 20k of games….

I affirmed my decision to take a break from playing WoTs when all these milestones came together at the same time…

• 20,000 games played
• Playing for 2 years (okay, 20 days short but who’s counting)
• Reached Tier 8
• Update 18.0 …If only but by a small percentage the SPG and Light tanks
are my best battle groups and the new 18.0 tweaks with those. So it was
a good time to take a break and see what happens so I don’t get too
twisted and end up like others who rant in games…. Upside is two of my
T8 lights became T9.

Random thoughts begin here….

Age wise I am way past being old enough for my AARP card and this is my first online team battle game where the play is against other players in real time. This game reminds me of the old days when we ran around playing laser tag working with other random players to capture or defend bases and that you could die and then play again, except now I don’t get so winded… I became fascinated / addicted to the WOT game and the competition after seeing ads run on TV during NASCAR races like 3 or 4 years ago. And after playing a few matches I realized there was a lot to the game, so I set out to figure out how to play this silly thing. I watched a lot of YouTube videos and read the battle chat learning about the game. About 3 months after I started playing I think I saw an invitation to join GNZ. So I did, for which that opened up a whole new world of learning. I still laugh about a training mission with two GNZ team mates in the early stages for me. I still only had my 7 original T1 tanks, but was invited to play so I brought my Otsu. I laughed at how small I was compared to the larger T8s and that a one shot hit obliterated me instantly.

Very early on also I joined in a tournament game invited by our fearless leader… Shriner in a game called Steel Hunt, a capture the flag type of game. We got to drive 5 different T10 vehicles… I found that I really l liked playing the Object 268 TD. I received my first Steel Wall medal in this. I found I liked the USA and French tanks as well and this helped me decide what lines I wanted peruse. Sot help from senior Clan members regarding buying my first premium, which ended up being a German T25 and then a T8 buying an IS-6. While playing my first few hundred games in the IS-6, I was told by many others many times after the game was over to go back to T1 but told mostly to un-install. Maybe that’s why I have 2k plus games at T1. I started learning about training but could not figure out what nation or tank line I wanted to play. Last year at this time I thought just working up to tier 6 which was going to be my destination stop, but once I got to my Cromwell I discovered that I wanted to continue and earn the T8 tanks to play other than just my IS-6.

For some reason I was not attracted to the Russian or German lines. So I decided to acquire and start playing all the tanks in the US, British, French and Japanese line then adding the Chinese line as well. I started out by first playing all the T2 tanks in each of these lines, meanwhile adding garage slots. As I gained currency and slots I added new tanks to play as I “Elited” the current tank. My first milestone I set for my self was to have all the Tier 4 vehicles of those lines I was playing in the garage, as I finished up the T3 tanks. This got me out of all battles with any T1 tanks. Each time the tank line split, I also created a new crew. I started then playing the TDs and SPG lines in each of the nations that had employed those vehicles. So crew training was all over the map. I also decided I would not create a super crew, but balance the training among all the what would become 24 crews at T6. My thinking was “I do not know what tank line I want to take to T10”. Hard to tell how a tank really is if the crew is also not equal to others you are comparing to. I used the weekend specials, bonus reserves and free XP to keep the training as balanced as I could. I learned to only spend credits and gold when items were on sale. I purchased slots and converted XP only when on sale. I only bought tanks and equipment only when they were on sale also and as well as crew training. So progression may not have been as fast but being frugal allowed me to get to have the 23 T6 un-played tanks in the garage. Then I started playing T6 with now 40% of my total games are at this level. I have kept vehicles like the Bison, Bishop, Chaffee and M4 as I really liked playing them.

I currently have 11 brand new T8 tanks in the garage, with crews trained to 50% waiting to play (maybe its 9 T8s and 2 T9s, Idk). I also still have 12 crews waiting at T6 to move to their counterpart T7 vehicles which are sitting in the garage un-played as of yet.

My time away from the battlefield will not be entirely wasted… I’m feeding my desires by reviewing all the training videos our Information Officer Kahduu has so expertly put together for us to use. I will have the opportunity to review this and hopefully become a better player…

This self-imposed time out can go two ways for me… it could be a time of self-enlightenment and the time will be like waiting for Christmas, eagerly waiting for the day I can open the box and play with the toys… or it could be like being put on time out or even in jail and restricted to your cell, meanwhile counting the days and hours to the moment to escape back into the WoTs. And all those questions… like what am I going play first… that will be the dilemma when I return! Alas… till then…

See you soon on the battlefield…. Good luck and good hunting to all o7

Hello, although I had planned on being back last week, the computer I was using got to the point where reading email caused it to over heat and shutdown. I have purchased a new one thanks to the Amazon prime sale deals and should be back next week at the latest... looking forward to blowing things up again...
